For me, having a speaker that looks as good as this one, and performs as well as it does, the 100 plus price has proven to be a value. I really love the sound.
I purchased this radio about 3 - 4 years ago, and I use it daily as my computer's speakers. I have the Tivoli Audio Model One radio.
Sound clarity with both radio as well as the auxiliary input is clear and refreshing. In the past I have used it to receive free radio, but more recently I have been listening to online music, as well as my personal collection.
As an independent unit for both radio and audio in, the quality is superb. I think that the initial cost is a bit pricey, however, the look of the unit is well worth it in my opinion.
So much so that I've bought another unit as a present for my mother.
I purchased this item because one of my brothers has one and I was impressed. I have read audiophile reviews of it in the past but it was the first time I heard it. Great sound, tuner is very good at isolating stations.
I recently purchased an "iHome" radio/clock/iPod player on the spur of the moment at a big box store. I like the smooth clean look of the Tivoli and it's very user friendly. My new Tivoli is great, with a clear and full sound.
The sound was terrible, tinny, with a low roar in the background. It's supposed to accomodate my iPod, which I haven't tried yet. Big Mistake.
It has no clock (which I didn't want anyway). HATED IT. So I got online and did some research.
The sound is SO much better I can't believe I'm still stuck with this iHome contraption (lost the receipt so can't return it). I recommend this product as a good value for the price.
This radio is really a bargain for the quality of the sound it produces. The clarity is amazing and it sounds like it's coming from a much larger stereo. Not to mention it's pretty cool looking.
The Tivoli Model One does a perfect job of providing fine sound in a small package. The retro tuning works very well, but frankly a few pre-sets would be a good addition.
